Nursery
Welcome to West Wimbledon Nursery!
West Wimbledon Nursery is a term-time only nursery for children aged 3 and 4. Children can first start in the nursery from the term after they turn 3 years old.
We have a lovely spacious indoor area for the children to play in, as well as a large outdoor space which is shared with the reception children.
Nursery is part of the Early Years Foundation Stage which continues through into reception. Your child will learn new skills and acquire new knowledge through the following 3 key areas:
- Communication and language
- Physical development
- Personal, social and emotional development
A typical day in the nursery might include:
- Drop off (8.40am for morning sessions; 12:30pm for afternoon sessions)
- Choosing Time
- Greeting Session
- Outside Play (30 minutes)
- Focus learning session (begins at 10 minutes working up to 25-30 minutes)
- Fruit and Milk time
- Choosing Time inside (30 minutes)
- Storytime
- Home time (11.40am for morning sessions; 3.30pm for afternoon session)
We also have weekly French and music sessions led by experienced teachers.
All 3- and 4-year olds are eligible to 15 hours free childcare and we offer a choice of five mornings (8.40am – 11.40am) or five afternoons (12:30pm – 3.30pm). Many 3- and 4-year olds with working parents are also entitled to an additional 15 hours funding (known as 30 hours funding) and we have a number of full-time places available to offer these children (8.40am – 3.30pm). There is a top-up fee to be paid if you opt for one of these spaces. For families who are not entitled to the 30 hours funding, we also offer the opportunity to pay for our ‘Wrap-around’ extended provision.
